Christmas Day 2008

A year has again be marked its near to end by the coming of Christmas day, a day of joy and happiness. What is the true meaning of Christmas? Is it buying all those fancy gifts, celebrating or countdown in clubs or attending mass in churches or whatsoever? Well, as for me, I'd been celebrating Christmas day countdown and celebration by attending midnight mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral since 2006. I find this way a more meaningful and peaceful way of appreciating the true meaning of Christmas rather than partying around. I apologise if anyone is offended here. Dont mean of insulting party goers. Just saying out what I felt.

An excerpt of Christmas from Wikipedia:
Christmas (IPA: /krɪsməs/), occasionally referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual Christian holiday celebrated on December 25 or January 7[2] that marks and honors the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.[3][4] The nativity of Jesus, which is the basis for the anno Domini system of dating, is thought to have occurred between 7 and 2 BC.[5] December 25 is not thought to be Jesus' actual date of birth, and the date may have been chosen to correspond with either a Roman festival,[6] or with the winter solstice.[7]
Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, church celebrations, and the display of various decorations—including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes and holly. Santa Claus (also referred to as Father Christmas, although the two figures have different origins) is a popular mythological figure often associated with bringing gifts at Christmas. Santa is generally believed to be the result of a syncretization between Saint Nicholas and elements from pagan Nordic and Christian mythology, and his modern appearance is believed to have originated in 19th century media.
Christmas is celebrated throughout the
Christian population, but is also celebrated by many non-Christians as a secular, cultural festival. Because gift-giving and several other aspects of the holiday involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, Christmas has become a major event for many retailers.

As usual, attended midnight mass. But this year, its even merrier with more friends around. I brought my sister, kakak, Janice and also Shean Tyng together to attend this mass. Its the first time going to church for my sis and Shean Tyng... Wonder how they felt about it. To my surprise, I even met my FIS lecturer, Ms. Wendy and also my Marketing Concept and Marketing Planning lecturer, Ms. Edith Lim and both of them still remembers me..Mass last night ended at around 1.30a.m. and we went supper at Open Air after that. By the time I reached home, it was already 3.00 a.m.
