DNR - Ice Cream

You talk to me
You speak with me
Don't sink before you rise baby
Don't fade away

You hesitate
You seem to wait
For all the time we had
Feels like a world away

Who's to say, we'll be ok
We will make it through the night
Don't wanna wake up in this state
I just want us both to smile

Cause we're the same
And i know that we'll never change
Look i bought your favourite ice cream
I dont wanna see it melt away

If you walk out now
I don't know if we could be the same
Baby just talk with me
Cause i want you to stay here with me

The memories
The things we did
I locked inside my heart
Where i know i won't forget

And now, who's to say, we'll be ok
We will make it through the night
Don't wanna wake up in this state
I just want us both to smile

Cause we're the same
And I know that we'll never change
look I bought your favorite ice cream
I don't want to see it melt away

If you walk out now
I don't know if we could be the same
Baby just talk with me
Cause I want you to stay here with me

I want you to stay here with me

430 minutes of drama

Its 12.31 am, 30 September 2008. Just finished watching a 40 episodes drama, 家好月圆,MoonLight Resonance.! Its study free break..so, I spent the whole day watchin drama. Unbelievable, had been watchin since I woke up this morning at 11am.

Only stopped for lunch and dinner. Its been 43minutes x 10 episodes=430 minutes of watching todaY!And, it took me only 4 days to finish this series.!

It's really a very successful story, addressing family issues. Somehow it makes me reflect on life, how important family is and how unimportant but tempting other things in life can be. But well, love your neighbouts and love your enemy. Only forgiveness can bring happiness.

Two character that I like the most in the series are 管家子and 于素秋 . Its ending theme "愛不疚" by Raymond Lam is also highly recommended.!

This drama should end by Mid Autumn this year...! Really just in time..祝大家 家好月圆庆中秋。

Still not sleepy though its late. Maybe its really a post drama race symdrome..

Well, to those who havent watched it, better grab the chance! Its really a life addressing drama..

“我说你行, 你就行; 我说你不行,你就不行; 你说你行,我说你不行,你还是不行;你说你不行,我说你行, 你还是行”

'To harvest grain, one must first bend down' - a phrase mentioned in this series. In life nothing comes that easy. Everything results from our effort. What we are today is a result of what we did before. To learn, we must first accept others criticism openly only then we can learn from our mistakes and progress. Guess that's what that phrase means. Nothing is free in life.

Finish this drama, gonna start work tomorrow though its break....

Linda 鍾嘉欣

Linda Chung Ka-Yan (traditional Chinese: 鍾嘉欣) (born April 9, 1984) was the 2004 Miss Chinese International Pageant winner and is now an actress with TVB in Hong Kong. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.[1]. She has appeared in many successful series including Best Bet (2007), Heart of Greed (2007) along with its indirect sequel Moonlight Resonance (2008), A Journey Called Life (2008), Legends of the Demigods (2008) and the upcoming grand production The Gem of Life.

Linda was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. After graduating from Vancouver's Templeton Secondary School in 2002, Linda attended the University of British Columbia for a year. During that same year, Linda participated and won first place in a beauty-talent show hosted by Crystal Mall, an Asian mall located in Burnaby, British Columbia.
In 2003, Linda won the title of Miss Chinese Vancouver, along with three awards in the same event. In 2004, she joined Miss Chinese International, a beauty contest organized by TVB, and became the third Vancouverite in 4 years to win Miss Chinese International after Bernice Liu in 2001 and Shirley Zhou in 2002. The 1st and 2nd runner-up in the same year was Mandy Cho (Hong Kong) and Carlene Aguilar (Manila).

Had been watching lots of her series lately..with MoonLight Resonance being the latest. Its just so nice to see her in series. She's just so natural, untouched and has her own natural beauty uniqueness..! Her smile in particular is just so sweet..OMG...She's like an angel..! Guess this is the first time I wrote such things...But I just cant help it..She's just too adorable..so pure..unlike the 'fakeness' of other stars...First time being so crazy about a movie star..!

Pretesting is really important..

Today had really been a disappointing day for me. Was quite impressing start for the morning untill up to around 2.30p.m.

Started off the day with Quantitative Modelling tutorial and lecture. Being able to understand the lecture and scoring above average for my mid sem was really a great start for me.

Things turn the other way round in the afternoon when I went out to conduct survey with the questionnaire I have designed. Its a group work, questionnaire are sent out to them few days before, waiting for their feedback but to no avail. And so I continued on printing and giving it out to friends and today, went out to do survey myself.

Looking at the respondent's respond to the question, I begin to find glitches in the way I ask the questions. Hell...I refuse to accept the fact in the beginning and continue to do more..until it really struck me that there is really a big problem with the questionnaire.

I was then thinking, wad the hell am I doing? Better correct the error and restart everything. I texted my group members, who usually have no replies in a harsh manner, asking them am I talking to a wall? Eventually, 2 replied but the other, still remains the same. Holy smoke...! dono wad to say. I just want to get the sample size of 240 completed within next week, that's why I pushed hard for it. Well, I admit I didnt do any pretest so its my fault, not to blame others.

One whole afternoon finding out my own mistakes.. Well, gotta learn..send them the corrected ones and at least one said he will gimme feedback by tonight.

Disappointed, came back home...rather than staying in Uni. Wont touch that unit tonite I guess.

Disappointment is how I would describe my day, 'learn from error' is the value.

Freaking cold...

Sub-zero temps give Perth a record chilly start

22nd September 2008, 9:45 WST

Perth recorded its coldest ever September temperature this morning.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Richard Rattley said the minimum temperature in Perth was 1C, but at Jandakot it fell to a chilly minus 1.3C.

"We had very cold conditions yesterday with the front that hit Perth," Mr rattley said. "The air from that front came from the south with the air temperature coming from the deep Southern Ocean, which typically at this time of year is at its coldest.

"Although the days are starting to get longer, the oceans take a long time to catch up and remain quite cold."

Yesterday’s storm front saw wild winds and heavy rains damage more than 30 homes across in Perth’s coastal suburbs.

Mr Rattley said should reach 18C in Perth today but would drop again to 5C overnight.

I Got my Lens BACK!!!!

I got a text from Hartland today, notifying me that my lens is back here in Perth, ready for collection. I was damm glad the minute I saw that text..! Immediately, I drove down to NorthBridge just to collect my lens...! Seperated for 8 weeks eh!...I just cant believe it..!

According to the receipt, they replaced the whole VR unit. No wonder it took them so long. Maybe I am too used with the 50mm these 8 long weeks. The 'clacking' sound of the VR system just kinda irritates me. And, suddenly I am so unused with the 'wide' angle of the 18-200mm compared with the 50mm. Perhaps I have adapted to the 50mm already within these 8 weeks. Indeed, I find the 50mm f1.8 to be a great lens! Its just a wonder especially during low light condition. The 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 just cant compare!

Confused...but excited..!

My 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 VR..Finally reunited after 8 weeks separation..

Suddenly thought of taking picture of the dinner I cooked for myself tonite...Rice, fried lettuce and sweet and salty pork...

Mid Autumn Festival Overseas

First time experience Mid Autumn overseas...Not a bad one though. I still have mooncake to eat at least.. Cooked Bak Kut Teh for dinner...with rice..Kinda lazy to cook nor to dine out with friends. Money is a matter here and also, kinda troublesome to get around without a car too. Well, good day for me. Well spent. Did most of my revision in anticipation for mid sem next week. Gonna be enjoying dinner alone later, with drama as extra 'dish'. Hsemate is going out with her friends.. so, home alone for Mid Autumn dinner.. Hahaz..Nothing special though.

Anyway, Happy Mid Autumn to everyone reading this.!

What's Happening to democracy in Malaysia??

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Reporter Tan Hoon Cheng was released after being arrested and held for 24 hours under the Internal Security Act 1960.

Tan, a reporter with Sin Chew Daily, returned to her Taman Permai home here at 4pm yesterday.

The other two people who were arrested under the ISA on Friday - Selangor senior executive councillor Teresa Kok and Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin - remained in detention.

Other developers yesterday were:

> Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said Tan was arrested because her safety was under threat;

> Syed Hamid also said it was not his decision but that of the police to detain the three under the ISA; and

> The National Union of Journalists, Bar Council and even several Barisan Nasional component parties voiced their disagreement over the use of the ISA on reporters.

If these people were arrested because they started a racial dispute, what about the person who spoke about it publicly initially?? Shouldn't he be arrested too since he is provoking Chinese by saying we are 'squatters'??!!! WTF! Since when we became squatters?

He went into hiding, and refuse to apologize eventhough the PM and DPM had apologized on his behalf. He say he did nothing wrong..! Is it?.Can you make a statement, generalizing and stereotyping chinese like this?.. UMNO should have kick him out, not ban him for 3 years....Non competent MPs will only cause riot...See, just because of ur silly fucking statement, so many things happened....PM and DPM apologise, people caught under ISA...

Eh...young journalist somemore. Spend a night in Police lockup just because she wrote what u said.. People got family u know.! Fuck u lar.! I throw ur son and daughter inside lockup see u can sleep or not?.. Rape can even happen within police lockup in Malaysia...! Moron!..

Really saddened by what these politicians are doing in Malaysia..In times of such economic crisis, they are busy pointing fingers, scolding other races, catching people with ISA, go Taiwan trip...Is these steps should be taken to ease the lifelihood of the 'rakyat'? Or have you people forgotten what Government means? Let me remind you... You all are living in a democratic government.! Not Adolf Hitler government where u can chop anyone u like.

Government, according to Abaraham Lincoln is: Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.

Remember that.! If you fail to serve the people, get out of that seat and give way to others. Its not a stage for your personal drama.

Staying active and stable

Active, stable people live longer: study
13th September 2008, 5:20 WST

The secret to a long life is actually pretty simple, according to recent research from the National Institute on Ageing.

After tracking more than 2,300 people for more than 50 years, researchers there found that calm and active people lived longer than their counterparts.

These findings came from data collected by the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Ageing - the oldest running study on ageing - and were published in the July/August issue of the journal Psychosomatic Medicine.

The most recent findings looked at the link between personality traits of people and their lifespan. The data showed that certain personality traits were definitively linked to a longer life, including emotional stability, organisation, discipline, conscientiousness and resourcefulness.

Certain other traits led to a shorter life: anger, emotional instability, anxiousness and depression, among them. The study concluded that "longevity was associated with being conscientious, emotionally stable, and active".

This study is not new news. Most people know that happiness and an active lifestyle lead to good health. In a similar 2003 study, also published in Psychosomatic Medicine, researchers found that men with Type A personalities - "competitive, impatient, uptight" - had heart attacks earlier than those who did not have a Type A personality.

It is important to note that personality or activity level is not fixed or predetermined, and that it can be proactively changed by an individual.

So if you find that you are a Type A personality living a sedentary lifestyle, seek ways to change that. Helpful tools may include formal psychiatric and psychological intervention; hobbies; a new sport; activities such as walking, tai chi, or yoga; spirituality; a career overhaul; or self-help.

知足常乐.....

Perhaps its true for the theory of satisfaction. Its the measurement of gap between expectation and perception of something. The more you expect, the bigger the gap would possibly be and cause more dissatisfaction.

I just got back my first piece of assignment today for Sales Management 230. Got 71/100 for it, considered a distinction. I expected more than that actually cause I really put tonnes of effort into it. Well, I am dissatisfied with the grade achieved actually. Should I be glad to have a distinction instead? I dont know how others are doing though. Well....dissatisfaction..can really be an unnecessary mood spoiler.

Perhaps the chinese phrase of "知足常乐" is very true and worth practicing. Competition and comparison will only cause unnecessary worries. Its not to work hard to achieve good results, but to a certain level where we are satisfied is enough. Its undeniable that only competition brings improvements. Competition is healthy, without it, there wont be any growth.
The chinese phrase simply means one will always be happy if he is contented. I guess its true...! Wad for crying over a spilled bowl of milk? I should be happy with my grades.. Want more? work harder next round. Dont be unsatisfied.

End of August, Beginning of a new month....

Its time to bid farewell to the month of August 2008. Time that has passed can never be returned. Time flies, lots had been done...Looking back, August 2008 was a wonderful one for me. A month full of new experiences and encounters. Its also a month of adaptation towards a new environment. Well, it has passed and here comes September, a month full of assignments and presentations.

I'll just bid farewell to August and have a big welcome for September.... May it be a wonderful month...

New Orleans struck by storm..again..

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Thousands of people in New Orleans and across the U.S. Gulf Coast fled their homes on Sunday as Hurricane Gustav barreled through the Gulf of Mexico packing a punch potentially as powerful as Hurricane Katrina.
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered mandatory evacuation of the city of 239,000 and told residents "This is still a big, ugly storm, still strong and I encourage everyone to leave."
The storm evoked memories of Katrina which struck almost exactly three years ago, flooding 80 percent of the city, killing 1,500 people in five states and costing $80 billion.
Nagin warned anyone who defied evacuation orders they would face extreme danger. Travel trailers that had housed some of those displaced by Katrina might "become projectiles" in the hurricane-force winds. He laid down a dusk-to-dawn curfew and told looters they would be sent straight for prison.
By most accounts, evacuations from New Orleans and other coastal cities were proceeding smoothly although traffic was moving slowly on clogged highways. More than 11.5 million residents in five states could feel the impact of the storm.
President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, accused of a slow and botched response to Katrina's chaos, said they would not attend this week's Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bush would travel to Texas to oversee emergency efforts.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain headed to the Gulf to survey preparations. Republicans were trying to figure out how to adjust their convention schedule to take account of events on the Gulf coast.
The oil industry from Texas to New Orleans was shutting down offshore platforms and flood-prone refineries on shore as the storm moved toward the region that pumps around a quarter of the nation's oil supply.
If, as currently predicted, Gustav lands west of New Orleans on Monday as a Category 4 hurricane with wind speeds up to 249 kph, its 4.9 metre storm surge could break through the same levees that failed three year ago.
Federal officials say the levees protecting New Orleans are stronger now but still have gaps.
Vanessa Jones, 50, said she had planned to stay but changed her mind after watching the news all night.
"I can't take a chance because so many people died in Katrina," Jones said as she prepared to board a bus headed to an unknown destination.
Katrina was a Category 3 when its 8.5 metre storm surge burst levees on Aug. 29, 2005. New Orleans degenerated into chaos as stranded storm victims waited days for government rescue and law and order collapsed.
EMOTIONAL SCARS
Thousands of people, still carrying emotional scars from Katrina, jammed highways out of New Orleans. The government lined up hundreds of buses and trains to evacuate 30,000 people who could not leave on their own and Nagin said 15,000 had been removed from the city, including hundreds in wheelchairs.
Residents boarded up the windows of their shops and homes before leaving town. In the city's tree-lined Garden District, which was largely spared by Katrina, Trinity Cazzola boarded up the windows of his Latin American restaurant before heading to Atlanta by road.
"I was here for Katrina and I was going to stay, but this one's coming really bad, and I decided to get out," the Honduran said. "The wind looks to be stronger this time, I'm scared it will rip the roof off."
Gustav weakened to a still dangerous Category 3 storm after it passed over Cuba after killing at least 86 people in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica.
Forecasters said the hurricane was so wide that significant impacts were likely well away from the storm's eye. Bush has pledged full support to the governors of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas.
Katrina and Hurricane Rita, which followed it three weeks later, wrecked more than 100 Gulf oil platforms, but Gustav could deal a harsher blow.
"It remains likely that Gustav will prove to become a worse case scenario for the producing region and places the heart of the oil production region under a high risk of sustaining significant or major damage," said Planalytics analyst Jim Roullier.
As Gustav swirled through the Gulf, forecasters also kept an eye on Tropical Storm Hanna, in the Atlantic Ocean about 230 km north-northeast of Grand Turk Island.
It was moving west-northwest with top sustained winds of 85 kph and could strengthen during the next couple of days, the hurricane center said. The storm might eventually threaten Florida but its path was constantly changing.

Again, mother nature unleashed its power, at the same place, just with a different name. Hurricane Katrina unfolded a series of tragedy 3 years back and I can still remember the scenes of destructed homes, cities, dead bodies and particularly, the Super Dome. All these, viewed from news are still like yesterday's story and today, it happened again. Is this our repayment to Earth for disturbing its ecological balance? What comes around goes around.

We heat up the Earth and the heat heats up the ocean. Rising hot vapor gives storms its power and with its tremendous power, here comes the big category storm. Is this a simple theory for even a kid to understand?

If you dont understand, try boil a pot of water, cover it with a cover and look what the steam from the heat can do? It can lift up the cover just for the steam to escape. Compare it with an ocean?
God bless those who are leaving their homes once again....
